New kid: May - July 2025

New names are getting space in Maastricht. They add something to the city: surprising concepts, unique flavours and fresh ideas. Discover the places that make the city just that little bit different.

The Furnace Workshop

What started as a family tradition grew into a mission: to give the Netherlands a taste of real craftsmanship. Haris learned how to distill in the Balkans, where the craft has been passed on for generations. With Het Stookatelier, he now shares his passion in the Netherlands. Here, it is not alcohol for alcohol's sake, but smell, taste, experience and the story behind it. During the workshop, Het Stookatelier will introduce you to distilling and the experience behind it in a fun way. No prior knowledge is required, just a curiosity for smell, taste and stories. Whether you are an enthusiast, looking for an original gift or an original activity for you and your friends, here you will create memories together that will last. An experience that really counts.

Qrème

This summer, Maastricht gains a new hotspot: Qrème by DARQ. An ice cream parlour you definitely want to visit for ultimate refreshment! With home-made artisanal ice cream, surprising flavours and a cosy atmosphere, this is the place to cool down. What flavours of ice cream can you get here? From a classic vanilla to special flavours like apricot custard or Disaronno Amaretto. But it's not just the flavours that are striking. The ice cream parlour itself is already a real eye-catcher. Pink-galore! With beach chairs and even an indoor beach, it's a place you won't want to skip during your summer walk in Maastricht.

FIGO

Una festa a tavola! At Osteria FIGO it really is a feast at the table. Since its opening in May, one thing has been immediately clear: this restaurant is all about experience. No standard Italian, but a quirky mix of traditional and innovative. The interior, designed by Reiters-Wings, and the music breathe seventies-cool, the menu serves classics with a twist and the wines are pure Italian. What awaits you? Think the classic order of antipasti, primi, secondi and dolci. From Tuesday to Thursday you order a la carte and on Friday and Saturday you choose from a 3-, 4- or 5-course menu (also selectable the other days) where you compose your own dishes. The menu changes every 8-10 weeks, with always a fine balance between meat, fish and veg. What are absolute must-tries? The Figo oyster with negroni-granité and the bistecca fiorentina! Sounds good, right? Don't wait long and book your spot at the table.

Anna's Coffee

On Maastricht's Kesselskade, Jet and Anissa opened a third-wave coffee bar. In this minimalist establishment, they combine their love of specialty coffee and art. Not only do they serve the best pour overs and espressos, the ladies have a mission: to increase coffee culture in the South. With great care, they grind and brew your cup of coffee. They work with different roasters (coffee roasters) so you can discover new flavours all the time. You can also go to Anna's Coffee for coffee books and accessories or advice on how to make the very best coffee at home. Have a coffee-to-go and find a nice spot along the Meuse, or take a seat on the small but nice terrace in front of the door. Inside, there is plenty of space for a cosy chat or to work on your laptop.
