New kid: September 2025
New names are getting space in Maastricht. They add something to the city: surprising concepts, unique flavours and fresh ideas. Discover the places that make the city just that little bit different.
Bistro Els
A warm and cosy restaurant in Maastricht where local and organic ingredients take centre stage. Led by chef Kris School, classic dishes are served in a modern way, with products from its own garden and neighbourhood farmers. For example, you can try fried mackerel, duck breast with plum sauce or a fresh mojito cheesecake. The restaurant has a personal and welcoming atmosphere, which always makes visitors feel welcome. Bistro Els combines culinary creativity with sustainability and local flavours, offering guests a place to enjoy pure, honest food and rich Limburg cuisine.
Harvest Hub Maastricht
Meet Harvest Hub, not only a culinary asset, but above all a conscious asset to Maastricht. You can go there for your breakfast or lunch, knowing you're making a good choice. From Bosschstraat, they provide healthy and colourful dishes that you can put together yourself: bowls based on, for example, lettuce or rice, fresh vegetables, good protein and homemade dressings. You can also go to Harvest Hub for sandwiches, soup, coffee and juices. Their strength also lies in sustainable catering for companies and events throughout South Limburg: from breakfast and lunch to drinks and dinners. Everything is freshly prepared with organic and often locally grown ingredients directly from regenerative farmers (agriculture that actively restores and strengthens soil, biodiversity and ecosystem) and local farms. Harvest Hub stands for feel-good food that energises and shows that sustainability and taste go hand in hand.
Wine bar Pas de l'O
Wine bar Pas de l'O is an atmospheric place where enjoyment with attention is central. You come here for a good glass of wine, of course, but mainly for the experience. Choose from the carefully selected wines and combine them with the delicious bites. Ideal and inviting to share. Think oysters, cheeses, charcuterie or something more luxurious like caviar and king crab. On Sundays, they are open as early as 12:00, the rest of the week from 15:00. It is a place where you can drink, enjoy and forget about time for hours. Pas de l'O is all about tasting, discovering and, above all, lingering.
't Rommedoeke
This is a well-known and familiar name in Maastricht and the region, 't Rommedoeke. So it is not so much a real 'New Kid', but they have a beautiful new location that we would like to bring to your attention. A few doors away from their old spot you will now find them at 11B Wijckerbrugstraat; you can't avoid it. An inviting shop filled with all kinds of goodies. From the spicy Rommedoe cheese to sophisticated foreign classics like Parmigiano, Taleggio and Cheddar with blue stilton. Lovers of farmhouse cheeses, goat cheeses and Belgian or French specialities will also find plenty to enjoy. You can also go here for a richly filled sandwich for lunch and a coffee to go. What hasn't changed: the warmth and hospitality you immediately feel here! 't Rommedoeke remains the address for foodies.
Sam's Maastricht
At Sam's, you are welcome all day for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The best thing about this place: you put together your own plate. But not a typical buffet, there are Indonesian and Mediterranean dishes, among others. Hot meals, breads, dips and side dishes, and all of them vegetarian or vegan. You grab yourself a soft drink or beer from the fridge and pay for your meal by weight at the counter, where you can also order coffee, tea, a glass of wine or a cocktail. Prefer not to buy everything at once? No problem, just walk by again. Finish with a soft serve, fresh fruit or homemade cake.
