New kid: April 2024
Where nature blossoms, new entrepreneurs pop out of the Maastricht soil. No hypes, no one-hit wonders.... The Maastricht entrepreneur is innovative, ambitious and above all worth mentioning. Hence this overview with the 'New Kids in Town' of April 2024.
Enigma
When walking to the Jeker Quarter from Stokstraat, we like to choose the romantic and quiet route. So via Sint Bernardusstraat, overlooking the Helpoort. Lovely to find a special new restaurant at this very spot. Restaurant Enigma was recently opened here, where you can enjoy a special culinary concept five nights a week. You choose 3 or 5 courses and the rest is in their hands. The dessert with long pepper, cardamom and calvados was combined with apple, pear and bergamot by owner Lisa. A dish to which the first guests responded very positively. But the kohlrabi in salt crust also proved popular. Curious? Go and taste for yourself!

Bar Verde
Ha! Innovation, we like that. Especially when it comes to vegan gastronomy, it is often like looking for a needle in a haystack. Until now: Bar Verde is settling down in Maastricht on the edge of the Mount Saint Peter (Mount Saint Peter). Owner Celina says: "I've been enjoying cooking vegan food myself for years and saw these establishments popping up all over other cities. I really missed that in Maastricht." Previously, Celina ran Burgerlijk with her partner, where - contrary to expectations - almost half of the orders were vegetarian or vegan. Reason enough to now switch to a completely plant-based approach. We are in favour!

Weekend MaxMara
'Weekend MaxMara' has long been familiar to many fashion-lovers. For newcomers, Weekend MaxMara is a line by MaxMara that is popular mainly because of its colourful and affordable nature. A concept that fits Maastricht's shopping culture perfectly. Operator Fabiola is no stranger to it; her mother has lovingly run MaxMara on Bredestraat for years.Fabiola on the new step in her career: 'I’m looking forward to pampering every curious woman with our hospitality.' Bistro VIEF
Finally, another new destination for one of Maastricht's nicest spots. At the bottom of Mount Saint Peter (St. Pietersberg hill) you will find the 'Vijfsprong'(Viefsprunk in Maastricht dialect), where Café de Sjans used to be for years. Waiting is rewarded because at Bistro VIEF you can enjoy delicious food. A modest menu, with the tastiest dishes for lunch and dinner. The culinary team comes partly from Il Bacaro on Vrijthof. So you know what to expect. Favourite? The chocolate mousse they come and scoop up at the table.... Hmmmmm!
