Anyone stepping inside Gloria will see straight away: this is anything but your run-of-the-mill Italian restaurant. This new hotspot has opened on the Markt, where the retro interior attracts almost as much attention as the food. Think zebra-print carpeting, shades of red, gold accents, mirrors, marble tables and classic white tablecloths. Even the crockery looks as though it’s come straight from Grandma’s cupboard, lending the place a nostalgic touch. Photogenic? Absolutely. Here, you’ll get a real taste of Italian glamour. Fortunately, it’s not just about the pretty picture. The menu features Italian favourites such as truffle arancini, burrata with pesto, fresh pasta and oven-baked pizzas. Accompanied by delicious cocktails and an extensive selection of Italian wines. Pull up a chair for a leisurely lunch, a drink during golden hour or a dinner that can easily last the whole evening. Slow mornings? Say no more. For that, EAZE is the place to be. Entrepreneurs Rob and Jill, known for Bold Rooftopbar, have opened a brand-new breakfast and lunch spot in the Sphinx Quarter. A light, minimalist venue where the popular beige aesthetic is evident throughout and you’ll want to linger all morning. All-day breakfast? Yes, please. From sweet to savoury and everything in between. Think poached eggs, filled croissants and homemade bites and sweets. Tip: go for The Morning Eaze – the absolute favourite when you simply can’t decide. Fancy lunch? Then the Eaze Specials – such as sourdough bread with burrata and peach or the crispy rice salad – are waiting for you. Of course, you can also get your daily caffeine fix here, but it’s just as perfect for a cosy boozy brunch with friends. From the terrace, you can look out over the lively Boschstraat.
