South Limburg, region of the Heuvelland. Maastricht is surrounded by nature, but even in the city you will find plenty of greenery around you. From the beautiful Sint-Pietersberg (Saint Peter's Mountain) to lush parks where nature can run wild.

St Peter's Mountain: - a unique microclimate

We call it a mountain, but it is obviously a hill. Still, it feels like a mountain at 171 metres above sea level, with D'n Observant as its highest point. Sint-Pietersberg (Saint Peter's Mountain) is a very popular hiking area, but runners and mountain bikers also like to come here. Nature lovers are treated to a unique microclimate here where you can encounter unusual butterflies, eagle owls, bats and unique plants.

Walking in the - ENCI quarry

When you think of viewpoints in Maastricht, the ENCI quarry comes to mind. A large limestone quarry where marl was mined for many years. In 2018, the area was closed for marl extraction, after which the quarry was returned to nature. It is a beautiful place to walk, enjoy the view or have a coffee at Surplace Coffee's truck.

Rest & meeting - in the park

When you are in Maastricht city centre, you don't have to go far to seek nature. The city has several green parks where you can unwind and take a moment for yourself. Consider the large Stadspark, a meeting place for many. A good place to recharge your batteries. In addition, the Frontenpark is also a special park. Lush and rugged, where you encounter remnants of Maastricht's fortifications while walking.
