True to local tradition, on Carnevalsmaandag (Carnival Monday), the Femilie- en Kinderoptoch (the family and children's Parade) will make its way through the streets of Maastricht. People of all ages dress up and make their way through the town with wonderfully decorated floats.
The Kachelpiepers and the Prince of the City open the parade.
Route: Wycker Brugstraat, St Servatius Bridge, Maastrichter Brugstraat, Kleine Staat, Grote Staat, Vrijthof square.
At 8:30 PM at the Minckelers statue on Markt square, the local folk dance, called the cramignon, will start. This folk dance is named after the music that is played while the dance is performed. A parade along the various sacred sites will also take place.
