In anticipation of government measures, shops in the Netherlands have different ways of dealing with the current coronavirus. For now, shops in Maastricht are free to set their own opening hours. Some shops have already decided to close their doors in anticipation of imminent closure while other shops are staying open or are taking extra precautions, such as adjusted opening hours or only accepting payment by debit or credit card. If you need to visit a shop, ask the shop beforehand about their opening hours. Online ordering is often also available. Shops that sell basic necessities (such as supermarkets and pharmacies) will maintain their standard opening hours.
Extended shopping hours
There will be no extended shopping hours for the duration of the shut-down period, which means most shops will close at 6:00 PM on Thursdays as well.
Maastricht is the perfect city for a day of shopping! Almost all shops are open 7 days a week including our shopping night every Thursday until 09:00 AM. There are a few exceptions to the Sunday opening hours, including public holidays and events.
Not all shops will have the same opening hours. If you want to know exactly when shops are open, please contact the relevant shop.
