Emboldened by the rich history of military drums and trumpets SMASH.duo, comprised of Chloë Abbott (trumpet) and Moritz Koch (percussion), has designed a genre-challenging concert experience for two performers. Using the theme ‘challenging stereotypes’ they reconsider what a new music concert is and can be. This ‘between-genre concert’ creates an atmosphere somewhat similar to that of a pop music concert while maintaining the intimacy of a new music concert.
SMASH.duo has commissioned many new works from a carefully selected diverse collection of composers whose music is influenced by aspects of pop music. The programme includes pieces by: Sara Zamboni, Jalau-Kalvert Nelson, Jessie Marino, Vicente Atria.
