Slightly different

The Sphinx Quarter is slightly different from the rest of Maastricht. Here, old factory buildings have been transformed by creative entrepreneurs into hip places where you can stay overnight stay stay, shop, eat, drink and enjoy culture. For example, visit a concert in a former warehouse at the Muziekgieterij pop venue, sleep in the old Sphinx factory at The Social Hub, shop in industrial atmospheres at design paradise Loods 5 or go to the movies in a former power plant at Lumière Cinema. Sphinxpassage

The Sphinxpassage is a 120-metre-long covered tiled passage dedicated to Maastricht's industrial history - all mapped out through text, beautiful images and a special selection of objects. This passage mapping the area's past and future will undoubtedly make you enjoy the Sphinx Quarter even more.

't Bassin

This marina in the Sphinx Quarter is surrounded by warehouses, galleries and cosy restaurants. This hidden Maastricht gem used to serve as a connection between the Zuid-Willemsvaart and the Liège-Maastricht canal, but it no longer has that function. But you can stroll along the water, admire the boats moored in the harbour and settle down on the terrace for a drink.

Frontenpark

Need to relax in nature? You can do so in Frontenpark, the rugged backyard of the Sphinx Quarter. Stroll along the unpaved paths and enjoy the historical fortifications and nature that has free reign in this area. If you pay attention, you might even spot a wall lizard, beaver or kingfisher here.

The Radium Square

Radium Square is a breeding ground for creative and cultural initiatives. Former industrial buildings, such as the coking plant and the LAB building, have been given new uses here as studios and studios.
