On a special location in the heart of Maastricht, you will find the Museum of the Art of Printing. Industrial heritage and graphic art are united here.

With a guided tour or audio tour along with impressive printing presses, refined tools and graphic art, and the history of press and picture unfolds:

  • Who were the professionals at the press and how did they work around 1900?
  • What is the specificity of Rembrandt's etch and the lithographic print of Toulouse-Lautrec?
  • How copper engraved print was applied to pottery decoration?
  • What is the idea behind the contemporary collection 'The World of René Glaser'?

 The covered courtyard connects the 2 buildings of the museum. Here you can take a break and experience the hidden downtown location. Employees would like to tell you who was the resident in the 19th century and the function of the underlying buildings.

 The film "Macchina Tipografica", which is shown in the museum, tells the story of press and picture in a pleasant way and completes your visit.

The museum is closed on Saturday afternoon for individual visitors during the months of December through February.

Group visits from 6 persons can be arranged the whole year from Monday to Saturday by appointment: guided tour and cup of coffee/tea.

Opening times

  • Note: opening times may be different during public holidays
  • Individual visit; on Saturday afternoon; March up to and including July and Sept up to and including Nov 13.00-17.00 h.
    At 14.00 h a free tour on display of a valid ticket.
    Group visit: from 6 people by appointment from Monday up to and including Saturday the whole year.
