Museum of the Art of Printing

Maastricht

On a special location in the heart of Maastricht, you will find the Museum of the Art of Printing. Industrial heritage and graphic art are united here.

With a guided tour or audio tour along with impressive printing presses, refined tools and graphic art, and the history of press and picture unfolds:

  • Who were the professionals at the press and how did they work around 1900?
  • What is the specificity of Rembrandt's etch and the lithographic print of Toulouse-Lautrec?
  • How copper engraved print was applied to pottery decoration?
  • What is the idea behind the contemporary collection 'The World of René Glaser'?

The covered courtyard connects the 2 buildings of the museum. Here you can take a break and experience the hidden downtown location. Employees would like to tell you who was the resident in the 19th century and the function of the underlying buildings.

The film "Macchina Tipografica", which is shown in the museum, tells the story of press and picture in a pleasant way and completes your visit.
