Fotomuseum aan het Vrijthof is a young museum located at the heart of the city in one of the oldest buildings in Maastricht; the former retreat of Charles V. This private museum re-opened after major renovations in 2012.

Fotomuseum aan het Vrijthof organizes a temporary exhibition three to four times each year, covering several themes (pop culture, entertainment, contemporary art) and disciplines. They are always looking for surprising combinations and unconventional collaborations. Thus they want to realize their ambitions and play a distinctive role in the city and in the region. In Fotomuseum aan het Vrijthof residents of and visitors to Maastricht can enjoy an hour filled with culture amongst the shops, café’s and restaurants the city has to offer. The museum also has a freely accessible museum café, located at the covered courtyard.
