For this concert, the CoMAMaastricht Ensemble has collaborated with a choir for the first time: Het Kamerkoor Maastricht. Mark Hendriks, winner of third prize and audience award of the CoMAMaastricht Compositiewedstrijd 2021-2022, has spent his prize money on writing a new composition entitled Greed is good, sharing is better for “flexible ensemble” and choir.

Through the library of their English branch, CoMA Maastricht obtained a composition for 18 harmonicas, titled Dust Bowl #3. For this purpose, a connection was made with Hon Ning Cheung, promoter and player of the harmonica and student of Composition at the Maastricht Conservatory. She also writes a new work for choir and harmonica, entitled Im Schilf. Hence, there will be no fewer than two world premieres during this concert. In addition, the CoMAMaastricht Ensemble, Kamerkoor Maastricht and Hon Ning Cheung also separately perform some contemporary compositions, among those compositions by the Limburgian composer Frans Gulikers and the Finnish composer Rautavaraa.
