Radium Boulders

Fancy climbing to the highest level? Then Radium Boulders is the place to be! For young and old, advanced or inexperienced. You can come and climb on your own or even organise a (children's) party there. Climbing here is actually called 'bouldering'. You don't wear a harness, don't need to take a course or have a partner to catch you up. Want to learn the basics of this exciting sport? During a beginners' evening, the trainers will teach you the fine (and strong) tricks of the trade. Of course, you can also enjoy a day of unlimited climbing!

ENCI Quarry

Visitors discovering the ENCI Quarry for the first time are often momentarily speechless. The quarry was started in 1926 as a site for, among other things, extracting limestone to produce cement. In 2019, the production of the adjacent cement factory was permanently shut down, after which in 2010, through the cooperation of the Municipality of Maastricht, Province of Limburg and Natuurmonumenten, an area for recreation was created. Many places you are only allowed to visit with the forest ranger (highly recommended!), but on your own you can nevertheless discover a crazy piece of Maastricht nature.

Kayaking Maasland and Rafting

You can also go on adventures in our neighbouring country of Belgium. How about a day of kayaking or canoeing? The Meuse Valley offers fantastic waters, where you can go on a water adventure on your own, as a duo or as a group. You start in Smeermaas and end in Kotem. There are plenty of options at Kayak Maasland and Rafting with different distances and distances. You can choose a 13-kilometre route (recommended for the recreational kayaker) or an 8-kilometre route (when you are with a large group).

Stepping through the caves

A sporty and adventurous outing for the real daredevil: stepping through the caves. In just under an hour and a half, you step through the deepest secrets of the Sint-Pietersberg (Saint Peter's Mountain). The Official Maastricht Guide leads you through the mysterious cave system and - while stepping - takes you to places you would not reach on a normal guided tour. There is no telephone reception here, no light or sound... Just your headlamp and your guide showing the way... It doesn't get more exciting than that.

Room Escape Maastricht

This outing is really only for the daredevils among us. Using various hints, or based on an assignment, teams must manage to escape from exciting 'rooms'. You can choose from one of seven rooms, each with its own theme. For instance, you can play doctor in a real hospital, where you have to use your medical skills to rescue a secret agent. Or you might have to pull out all the stops to make sure a gig at the music venue Radium Rock takes place. Are you with a larger group? Then you even have access to a special room, for groups of 8 to 16 people. Whatever task you choose, this outing is equal to a blood-curdling thriller. Only in Room Escape, you are the protagonist yourself!

Mountain biking

If you're looking for cycling fun, Maastricht literally has it all. Simply take your mountain bike (or hire one from a local bike company) and follow the many mountain bike routes through Maastricht and the hills. Whether you fancy an adventurous route with your mountain bike through South Limburg, or would rather cycle in peace and quiet 'on the seabed'. View all cycling routes in the Maastricht Store.
