Try a fresh salmon ceviche or grilled artichoke hearts. Or go for the grilled tuna or fillet of beef with blue cheese, which you can order at any time of day. For a more typical lunch dish, the Bacio sandwich with mortadella and burrata or the Caesar salad comes highly recommended. Take your time to have a leisurely lunch here and soak up the atmosphere.

In the evening, you slide into Mandalin. A warm place where Turkish and Mediterranean cuisine come together in the heart of Maastricht. Day 2 - Explore the surrounding area

You’ll start the day in peace and quiet in the hotel’s restaurant. Browse the breakfast menu and choose something light, such as yoghurt with fresh fruit or an acai bowl, or something a bit more substantial: American bacon and apple pancakes or a festive champagne breakfast. You can hire a bike, or opt for a brisk walk if you prefer to get around on foot, and head for the breathtaking Château Neercanne. Along the way, you’ll pass rolling hills and vast green landscapes. It almost feels as though you’re leaving the city behind for a mini-break in its own right.

For lunch, take a seat at Restaurant L'Auberge, situated in the former stables of Château Neercanne. A unique lunch experience. In the afternoon, return to Maastricht at your leisure (and with a diversion, as there is so much to discover). Have a rest at the hotel and then take a taxi to Thermen Maastricht. Day 3 - Design, art and a touch of Burgundy

Treat yourself to a slow morning - sleep in, get ready in peace and then... brunch, of course! The cosy, bright interior has a Scandinavian feel with wooden accents and a warm, inviting atmosphere. As soon as you sit down, the smell of warm cinnamon rolls meets you. A perfectly cooked Eggs Norwegian, colourful smørrebrød and creamy Swedish meatballs appear on the table. The Bonnefanten

After brunch, it is time to explore the Bonnefanten, where contemporary art takes centre stage. This modern museum on the Meuse not only offers impressive exhibitions, but also architecture that is itself a work of art. It is the perfect place to awaken your cultural senses. What is on display at the museum? The permanent collection consisting of ancient art, very impressive, and a selection of changing exhibitions of contemporary art. These can range from fine artworks and paintings to complete video installations.

Exploring quarters

In the afternoon, explore the districts of Wyck, the Stokstraat Quarter and the Jeker Quarter on foot, each with its own character, unique shops and cosy catering establishments. Stroll through the centuries-old streets and take it all in. You will soon notice that Maastricht is bursting with little details that tell stories from different periods in history: from Roman times to the industrial revolution and beyond.

Day 4 - A day in Liege

After breakfast at the hotel, board the train towards Liege, Belgium. Only a short ride away from Maastricht, but with a completely different feel and atmosphere. Liege surprises with its rich history, dynamic art scene and impressive architecture.

Art, Architecture & Fine Dining

Start your exploration with a visit to the impressive St Paul's Cathedral, a masterpiece of architecture that sucks you right into Liège's history. Afterwards, take an inspiring tour of the La Boverie art museum, where you can admire a wide range of artworks by both local and international artists. After your museum visit, stroll through the peaceful Parc de la Boverie, a green oasis in the middle of the city. This park not only offers beautiful views, but also has a rose garden. A perfect place to unwind.

Along the way, pay a short visit to the gothic Église St-Jacques. This church, with its imposing facade and atmospheric interior, offers a moment of silence and is a wonderful example of the city's rich religious history.

Day 5 - Enjoying your final day

One last breakfast

Before heading home, start your day with breakfast at ’t Wycker Cabinet. It’s the perfect way to kick off your morning. Enjoy a croissant with jam or a Limburg vlaai, or go for a savoury option such as Eggs Royale or Eggs Benedict. The Breakfast Bowl with yoghurt and granola or pancakes with fruit are also delicious. Order a good cup of coffee or tea and your breakfast is complete.

Do you have some time left before you go? Then a final shopping session in Wyck is a good idea. Wyck is a part of town where you will find many things from local entrepreneurs.
