Dinghuis - Maastricht Store
The Maastricht Store is located in the Dinghuis, a building with a long history.

The Maastricht Store, formerly Maastricht Visitor Center, is located in the Dinghuis, a building with a long history. Its name comes from the word 'things', which means 'to administer justice'. Even today we speak of a 'gedinghuis'. The building dates back to the year 1470. In the Middle Ages, the building housed two courts: the Brabant and Liege courts. Maastricht was in fact governed partly by the duke of Brabant and partly by the prince-bishop of Liège. In 1664, the courts moved to the new city hall on the Markt.
Both in the interior and exterior of the former city hall, this 'Bicommunalism' is still clearly visible today.
