Beer tasting in Maastricht
When you think of Maastricht, you think of burgundy enjoyment. That's about really good food and really good drinks, preferably made on local soil. Great news for beer lovers: in Maastricht, you can taste (locally brewed) beer like no other! Naturally, with a tasty appetiser to feast on together.
Bosch Brewery
This brewery can be found in Wyck and was founded in 1758. The large imposing national monument hides wonderful stories that you can discover on a guided tour. You can book a tour at Bosch Brewery on your own or in a group (call your friends!). The unique thing about this location is that you will find both a brewery, bottling plant and malting plant, as well as industrial heritage from around 1920. Many of the old machines are still working! The crowning glory of the tour is the fancy residence of the brewer, the Bosch family, with 4 period rooms, a majestic spiral staircase and the recently restored marble painting and arcadian landscape.

City Brewery - Maastricht
Wyck and brewing seem to be a good marriage, because you will also find the Stadsbrouwerij in this Maastricht neighbourhood. Overlooking the raging river Maas, you enter this city brewery, which was completely renovated not so long ago. In the tasting room, you will enjoy the tastiest beers they brew themselves, with no fewer than 16 taps! In each beer you taste a different story that the brewer wants to tell. Of course, with matching appetisers, this is a great outing for beer lovers. Oh, and in summer you can sit here on the sunny terrace until the late hours.

De Gouverneur
When you do cross that lovely Sint-Servaas bridge, you enter the historic city centre. Keep to the right and you'll eventually end up at the Markt. A crazy place, especially when it's bustling on Wednesdays and Fridays because of the fresh market. A little further on, you'll find de Gouverneur. This first (and only) Belgian specialty beer café opened its doors in 2014. Which beer you will choose, that will be another task. Indeed, the choice is vast: the menu features more than 300! The owner tips the Gouverneurke. This is a NEIPA (New England Indian Pale Ale) and is brewed locally (and exclusively for de Gouverneur) by their friends at Zuyd Craft. Another fun fact about de Gouverneur: you used to find brewery De Valk here. Traces of this are still clearly visible in their beer cellar.

Café de Zwaan
For the next beer pub, we'll stick to the Market Square. If you walk to the other side of the beautiful square, you will find Café de Zwaan. You can go here for a nice cup of coffee with real Limburg flan, a nice lunch and.... For beer, of course! Besides the menu, the beer sommelier (yes, really!) will be happy to advise you on some more special beers. What makes Café de Zwaan so special is their 'walk in fridge', where you can admire around 200 different bottles of special beer. Be adventurous and pick one you've never tasted before! Enjoy it on the cosy terrace where you overlook the Town Hall.

Zuyd Craft
Fancy discovering the wonderful world of beer brewing? We are far from done with this craft in Maastricht. Indeed, at the Tapijnkazerne, you can visit Zuyd Craft for a beer tasting. You can't just visit the brewery, but during a tasting you can taste all the craft. Did you also know that they have created the 'D'Artagnan Bière du Brut' in collaboration with Château Neercanne? This is a beer brewed with champagne yeast. You can taste it at the castle, a venue you can say U to. Highly recommended for planning!

Klinker Brewery
Last, but by no means least: Klinker Brewery. This is the oldest active brewery in the city. According to the brewers, you can taste the burgundian lifestyle and Maastricht chauvinism of the brewmaster with every sip. That promises something! Klinker Brewery offers festive tastings. The nice thing about the tasting is that it is organised in Café de Knijnspiep. A typical brown Maastricht café in the heart of the city.
