Tasty fries in Maastricht
What could be better than a fatty snack now and then? And if you choose that guilty pleasure, make sure it's good as hell. Traditionally in a coneor in a box with a luxury topping? Whatever you choose, we have the best tips for you in Maastricht. Oh yes, in Maastricht we never say fries, but of course fries!
Friture Reitz
We start straight away with a classic. The queues of people in front of Friture Reitz bode well... Although Maastricht does not have the 'TikTok queues' you see in Amsterdam, Reitz is one of the few establishments in Maastricht where people do queue en masse for a tasty bite. According to the State Archives, this Maastricht chip shop is the first and oldest in the Netherlands. Traditionally, they still fry in beef fat and you can really taste that! We say: get in that queue and score an old-fashioned cone of chips with the local speciality 'zoervleis'! Licking your fingers guaranteed.

Friet Elite
Matching the allure of the city of Maastricht, at Friet Elite they give the greasy snack a 'fancy' look. So a fry at Friet Elite is just a bit more luxurious than what you are used to, and we like that. How about loaded fries with a topping of fresh guacamole and spicy sriracha? Or do you prefer the version with Parmesan cheese and truffle mayonnaise? They also have delicious homemade shrimp croquettes and cheese soufflés. So: race to Friet Elite!

Friedt
Yes, you read it right. Chips, but with -dt. They must be damn good fries... At Friedt they love the artisanal way of frying fries, potatoes straight from the farmer, freshly cut and ready for frying! Here, too, they serve your fries in a paper cone. Our favourite? Definitely the fries with 'hot chicken', a slightly spicy homemade sauce of soy sauce, puffed garlic and various spices. So they came up with this recipe themselves and that is exactly what they stand for at Friedt: no craziness, but delicious and fresh products that surprise you.

Friterie Wieck
On Wyckerbrugstraat, opposite Café Zondag, you will find Friterie Wieck. If you take the train back home after a long day in Maastricht, this is the perfect place to stop for a snack. Of course, Friterie Wieck is already a reason in itself to go to Wyck, but there are many more local entrepreneurs in this hip part of Maastricht that stand out with their creativity. Frieterie Wieck serves delicious Belgian fries. The fries with toppings are really surprising though, from rendang to vegan stroganoff. All highly recommended!

Patty 'n Bun
At Patty 'n Bun, they promise you messy fingers anyway. Besides really good smashed burgers, you can also get fresh skin-on fries here. Garlic & herb fries', 'cheesy fries'... the names alone make our mouths water! There is SO much choice and some options are more surprising than others. For a simple 'tuut fries', this is the wrong place. What about the 'smash supreme fries', fries topped with a burger and 3 (!) kinds of sauce? Surely that will make your stomach growl. We say, don't hesitate and go straight to Patty 'n Bun!
