A Café-Restaurant with a rich history. Located on the cosy Market Square opposite Maastricht's old town hall. Beer has been flowing from the tap here since 1901.

Formerly known as Brouwerij EH Meijers, Proeflokaal 't Zwaantje (near Joosten) and Malle Babbe, among others. In 2015, out of 134 Limburg businesses, awarded the golden spatula for best eatery in Limburg by the mystery guests of the well-tapped programme.

All this in a cosy living room atmosphere partly made possible by our team of hospitable staff.

The terrace is ideal for enjoying the first spring sun on the Nieuwstraat side early in spring, or for taking a seat on the sun-drenched terrace on the Markt in summer. Taste the tradition and dynamism of the whole city in one place here. You can sit here quietly while the hustle and bustle passes you by!

We are delighted to let you know that Café De Zwaan has had an exciting expansion since 2023. We are proud to present our recent expansion with the Proeflokaal, taking our dedication to excellent beer experiences to new heights. A beautiful cafe located on the other corner, also with a rich history of the former bargee cafe Brouwers.
