A personal encounter
In KAMER 13, artist Pippilotta Yerna presents an intimate and poignant project at Fotomuseum aan het Vrijthof. The focus is on her special bond with her great-aunt Jacoba Manders, with whom she shared a deep friendship despite an age difference of 71 years.

Growing old without disappearing
Jacoba taught her that getting older does not mean disappearing from view. On the contrary, in a society where old age often becomes invisible, she remained powerfully present. Her life is the starting point for a reflection on visibility, dignity and the passage of time.

Between closeness and farewell
The images in the exhibition were created during a period of intense togetherness, where care, attention and farewell come together. They capture the vulnerability of the ageing body and the emotional charge of moments slowly moving towards an end. The work balances between memory and anticipation, between Jacoba's life and the future of the artist herself. A tranquil and poignant exhibition that touches on universal themes such as love, time and transience.
