Maastricht keeps moving
Fitness entrepreneurs are keeping us in shape!
In these times, it is especially important to continue to take care of ourselves. Everybody seems to have taken up walking now that all sports and fitness activities have come to a standstill, but we need to be careful that these hiking areas don't become too busy. That's why it's great to see that many fitness entrepreneurs in Maastricht are helping us to stay fit at home! If you weren't in the mood to get active yet, then be inspired by the live videos posted by these sporty businesses. Who knows, you might just be chiselling out that beach body while you're stuck at home!
Maastricht businesses with a heart for fitness
We've made a useful list of all the fitness entrepreneurs in Maastricht who are keeping busy by keeping us active at home! Beginners are welcome too!
Constance, owner of MAC SportsClub, was quick to get started with virtual classes. The gyms were among the first businesses to close, but that didn't squash her passion for fitness. Those who know Constance know that she’s brimming with energy! Every day, she posts various live classes via Facebook and YouTube. On Monday at 9:30 AM this past week, you could take part in her Body Training class. Then, an hour later, there was a special high-energy class for people aged 50 and older. Constance is also continuing with her online yoga classes, and last Tuesday you could experience a moment of zen when she posted an hour-long Hatha Yoga class. In short, there are plenty of activities on the MAC SportsClub website to keep you fit during lockdown!
Getting fit with the entire family, young and old!
You might already know Tunde from Training Maastricht from the bootcamp classes he gives in Stadspark city park. Every day, he would give his famous bootcamp sessions to a large group of local Maastricht residents. His calm way of teaching and challenging exercises are extremely popular. Together with his wife Rachelle and their three children, he is now making sure that this active spirit is not dampened by posting live sessions on Facebook. He posts short but intense sessions for the whole family in the morning or in the afternoon, helping parents keeping their children busy in a healthy way in these challenging times. Tunde and Rachelle are here to help you stay active and fit with a little added humour! Follow their Facebook page to see the lesson times.
L1: keeping Limburg active
The largest news channel in Limburg is helping to keep everyone in the province fit and healthy. Every day between 10:00 AM and 2:30 PM, L1 TV broadcasts fitness tips presented by physiotherapist Erik Eurelings with the aim to get the people of Limburg through this crisis as strong as possible, as being stuck at home will be difficult for many people. The exercises are suitable for all ages, even if you're usually not very active. As the expert says himself: ‘a trained body helps the immune system to more effectively deal with infections.’ You can find out more about this fantastic initiative here.
Dancing in the living room
Maastricht's most famous dancing school has also been forced to close its doors. But if it's up to Bernaards school of dance, we'll conquer this coronavirus crisis one dance step at a time. And we're all for it! They refused to be discouraged by this new situation and quickly discovered a new way of doing things. Now, you can release your inner dancing queen or king via their YouTube channel where they post videos ranging from dance fitness to Salsa. Move the furniture against the wall and put on your dancing shoes (or just on bare feet – you're at home!) and start moving! Maybe we'll even discover the new Fred and Ginger of Maastricht during this period. Make sure to share your videos on our social media channels! Explore Bernaards' YouTube channel here!
