Ruïne Lichtenberg
Ruïne Lichtenberg is undoubtedly the oldest castle remnant in the Netherlands with foundations dating back to the 10th century.

On the eastern slope of Sint-Pietersberg (Mount Saint peter) (on the Maas side) lies a very special and valuable sight: the Ruïne Lichtenberg. It is undoubtedly the oldest castle remnant in the Netherlands with foundations dating back to the 10th century. Higher parts date from the 12th and 15th centuries and are made of sandstone and marl respectively. From the highest point, visitors have a wonderful view of the Maas valley.
