Nocturne et Lumineux
25 January
Subtle tensions, refined colours and a play between dark and light characterise this chamber music programme by Eline Hensels and Wouter Bergenhuizen.
Top musicians from Maastricht
Eline Hensels is among the most promising Dutch cellists of her generation. She won first prize and the audience award of the National Cello Competition during the 2018 Cello Biennale, was twice laureate of the Prinses Christina Concours and reached the candidate selection of the Queen Elisabeth Competition 2022. We are proud to call her 'our own Maastricht'.
At her side is pianist Wouter Bergenhuizen, born in Maastricht (1988) and considered one of the most promising young pianists in the Netherlands. He studied at the Conservatory of Amsterdam and the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest with renowned teachers such as Willem Brons, Jan Wijn and Ferenc Rados. In addition to his international performances, he teaches at the Conservatory of Amsterdam.
Nocturne et Lumineux
In the programme Nocturne et Lumineux, Hensels and Bergenhuizen perform works by Koechlin, Boulanger, Janáček, Bosmans and Poulenc. The duo shows how nocturnal stillness and radiant light alternate in music full of colour and eloquence. The CD recording of Nocturne et Lumineux was rewarded with an exceptional rating of 9 to 10 in Luister (May 2024), with which the programme already made a great impression even on CD.
The CD 'Nocturine et Lumineux' by cellist Eline Hensels and pianist Daniël kramer was nominated for an Edison Klassiek Award (Fresh Talent) in 2024.
