The Maastricht main railway station was first put into full service in 1916 and was built to the design of George van Heukelom. The reinforced concrete platform roof is typical of a major technical and thus innovative development at the time. By the end of 2021, after a restoration of more than 2.5 years, the Maastricht main railway station was restored to its full glory, so old elements from the monumental building have been brought back. Such as the huge mural in the AH to go, the original fountain in the station hall and an old station clock. In addition, the station facades were cleaned and the authentic Mosa floor and wall tiles restored.
