Treasury Basilica of Saint Servatius
The Netherlands' most important and largest treasure chamber in a unique medieval setting.

In the crypt of Servatius Basilica, you can visit the place where Saint Servatius was buried in the year 384. Later, his bones were transferred to the Servatius Shrine, also called the Reliquary. Still today, his bones reside in this precious object of Maasland precious metalwork. It is carried through the streets of Maastricht every seven years on the occasion of the Pilgrimage Of Relics and is now on permanent display in the northern transept of the basilica.
In addition, in the treasury itself, you will find the Bust of St Servatius (containing his skull) and objects attributed to the city patron, such as the bishop's staff, the pectoral cross, the pilgrim's staff and the key. A great wealth of reliquaries in precious metal or ivory is displayed around these objects. The large collection of silk fabrics from the 6th century onwards is unique, and paintings and sculptures complete the ensemble.
