With the phrase "homesick in my hometown", the writing process of Homesick began. After the success of Bitterzoet (2020), Eefje retreated to the studio to work on new material, written while touring, but also during a period of great change: the pandemic, her pregnancy and first time as a mother. Never before did she have so much time to write and never before were there so many songs to choose from.
