A Life in Pictures
Fotomuseum aan het Vrijthof is presenting a major retrospective exhibition featuring 130 photographs by the American photojournalist Eve Arnold (1912–2012), the first female photographer at Magnum Photos. Her work, from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, depicts both celebrities and everyday life around the world.
From Marilyn Monroe to faraway travels
The exhibition features intimate portraits of stars such as Marilyn Monroe and Marlene Dietrich, alongside photo essays and travel photographs from countries including China, India and South Africa. With her empathetic and inquisitive eye, Eve Arnold became one of the most important photographers of the twentieth century.
