Our Machine Mother by Tom Luyten at Artichoque Art Gallery

Artichoque Art Gallery presents the poignant exhibition Our Machine Mother by artist Tom Luyten. This exhibition is more than a visual experience: it is an invitation to reflect on the way digitalisation, artificial intelligence and technological progress shape our lives. Luyten calls on the audience not only to look, but also to think, feel and question.
Current themes depicted in four powerful installations
The exhibition takes an artistic look at pressing questions: How does technology affect our employment? What is the value of art in an attention economy? And how do we distinguish truth from fiction in an AI-influenced society?
This Circle is Vicious
An imposing installation that transforms the space with a cylindrical structure of old computer screens and LED panels. Visitors become part of an endless cycle of construction and decay.
Value is in the Eye of the Beholder
An installation that forces us to reflect on the value of art in a world where attention is the highest good. Three canvases with expressive splashes of red paint and a digital display invite visitors to reflect on what makes art truly valuable.
Synthetic Realities
A vintage television from the 1960s shows footage of a Mars landing that never happened, confronting visitors with the line between truth and fiction.
Ora et Labora
This satirical installation invites visitors to kneel on an ancient prayer chair and enter their occupation on a computer screen. It then shows the ways AI technology could take over their jobs in the coming years.
