Artichoque Art Gallery

Artichoque Art Gallery has specialised in contemporary art since its establishment in 2016. Initially, the gallery was mainly active online supported by pop-up exhibitions in, for example, the Kruisherenhotel in Maastricht and the Kurhaus in Scheveningen. Now the gallery is located in a stately monumental building at Bredestraat 4 in Maastricht, a stone's throw from the Vrijthof. Maastricht is a city where art and culture have traditionally played an important role in social life. Artichoque Art is open every Thursday to Saturday from 13.00 to 17.00. The other days everyone is welcome after making an appointment.

Bonding with Maastricht

In recent years, Artichoque Art has become a fixture in the Maastricht gallery scene. The gallery mainly represents artists with a connection to the city. The result is a versatile offering, ranging from young starting artists to established artists with an extensive and multifaceted oeuvre.

Founder Erik Stroink believes it is important to provide space in his gallery for young talent, recently graduated from the local art academy. Promising students from the Maastricht art academy regularly get the chance to exhibit their work in the gallery. A godsend for the talents: often this is their first opportunity to present their work to a varied and interested audience.

Maastricht Gallery Weekend

Artichoque Art is co-initiator of the Maastricht Gallery Weekend, held in the third weekend of October. During this weekend, several galleries open their doors with a diverse and festive programme. In addition, Artichoque Art is involved in several other cultural initiatives in the region, such as Jeker Jazz Art Live.

The gallery stresses the importance of preserving cultural heritage. This is reflected, among other things, in the fact that it maintains good ties with Foundation Restoration Atelier Limburg (SRAL). SRAL is a large and leading institute for execution, research and education in four restoration disciplines: paintings, sculptures, historical interiors and modern art. By using the years of knowledge and experience present here, Artichoque Art can also further improve its own services.

Venue rental

The gallery's inspiring spaces lend themselves perfectly to meetings, training sessions and other gatherings. The various indoor spaces as well as an outdoor area are suitable for small and medium-sized groups ranging from four to about 40 guests.
