Opera Zuid – Panel discussion on climate change, imagination and the power of opera

How can art and culture contribute to the conversation about climate change?
Following the premiere of Opera Zuid’s opera *Uprising*, creators, soloists and participants will engage in a dialogue about the impact of the climate crisis and the role of art in raising awareness, fostering reflection and bringing about change.

The panel will discuss themes such as hope and urgency, individual choices and social change. It will also examine the power of imagination: how can artists create new stories that not only move people, but also encourage reflection and conversation?

In addition, the discussion centres on the social climate in which we live. How do we continue to engage with one another when viewpoints become more entrenched? And what role can art and culture play in creating space for encounter, nuance and different perspectives?

Before the panel discussion, there will be an opportunity to visit the Maastricht Climate Museum.
