Passage to Wisdom
The ethical gateway, made of glass and steel, is the entrance to the university library.
Commissioned by the Art and Heritage Committee of Universiteit Maastricht, the late Borek Sipek creates the artwork 'Passage to Wisdom'. It is the entrance to the university library on Grote Looiersgracht in Maastricht's old town.
It provides a link between the building and the street and its passers-by, providing a certain openness and forming a modern gateway manufactured from glass and steel. The function is meant to be not only practical but also aesthetic, according to the artist himself.

Location
In the Jeker Quarter, you will find atmospheric restaurants and cafés with the finest terraces, the historic city wall, a bakery with a water mill where flour is ground for the tastiest flans and, if you are lucky, live music in the streets.
