Fort Sint Pieter caponier

The caponier is a covered projection into the dry moat, designed to defend the flanks of the moat. It is a bomb-proof space from which the blind spot of a fortification opposite can be covered.

During your visit to the fort, it is certainly worth exploring the caponier. The caponier currently houses a unique and impressive exhibition on various themes, including ‘living in a cave’ and ‘lost passageways’. There are also various interactive activities to enjoy within the fort’s rooms, such as guessing the weight of a cannonball and solving a Mosasaurus puzzle. The exhibition is divided into two parts: one on Fort Sint Pieter and one on the Caves of Mount Saint Peter.
