The caponier is a covered recess in the dry moat, intended to defend the flanks of the moat. It is a bomb-proof space from which the dead corner of a fortification against it can be covered.

During your visit to the fort, it is definitely worth exploring the caponier. Currently, the caponier houses a special and impressive exhibition on various themes, including 'living in a cave' and 'disappeared corridors'. There are also several interactive activities to experience in the rooms of the fort, such as guessing the weight of a cannonball and solving a puzzle of a Mosasaurus. The exhibition is divided into two parts: one about Fort Sint Pieter and one about the Caves of Mount Saint Peter.
