Conservatorium Maastricht

In the heart of the Jeker Quarter lies Conservatorium Maastricht, where students from all over the world are trained as musicians. Thanks to its international atmosphere, its location in the Euregio and its many public concerts, the conservatoire is not only an educational institution but also a place where visitors can discover young musical talent.

International music education
Conservatorium Maastricht is part of Zuyd University of Applied Sciences and attracts students and lecturers from all over the world. The international nature of the programme is evident every day in the concert halls, rehearsal rooms and collaborations with cultural institutions in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. This exchange of diverse musical backgrounds gives the conservatoire its own unique character.

A building steeped in history
The current conservatoire was specially designed in the 1960s for music education. It was built on the site of the former Molen van Dolk, a watermill that later served as a factory. The design retained the characteristic shape of this historic building, meaning that its past is still recognisable in the conservatoire’s architecture. The building is also partly built over the River Jeker and is now a listed building.

Music for the public
The conservatoire is more than just a place of study. Throughout the year, it hosts public concerts, lectures and other musical activities. During these events, the public also has the opportunity to discover the work of students and new musical talent.
