Airport Weeze (NRN) is one of the major international airports in North Rhine-Westphalia, with 1.9 million passengers in 2015. The airport, which started its scheduled flights in 2003, is one of Europe's youngest airports and also Germany's first private airport. The international airport is located in the Kleve district, about 70 km north of Düsseldorf directly on the A57 motorway and close to the Dutch border. More than 10 million people live within a radius of 60 car minutes. 40% of departing passengers come from the Netherlands and the other 60% come from the Lower Rhine region, the Ruhr region and the Rhineland.
