Discover a rich selection from Sittard-Geleen's collection of heritage and contemporary art, bringing together identity, memory and society.
In this exhibition, the municipality of Sittard-Geleen shows a wide selection from its museum collection of heritage and contemporary art. The works, from different periods and collections, reflect the time in which they were created and collected.
Artists such as Rineke Dijkstra, Tomàš Libertíny, Os Gemeos and Ulay/Marina Abramović explore themes of identity, memory and changing society, each in their own way. Much of the collection remains surprisingly topical and shows the city's strong artistic and social eloquence.
Thanks to keen acquisitions at local, national and international level, the collection acts as a mirror of the city, the region and the world, connecting local stories with global perspectives. The exhibition shows how we look at the past and at art today.
