Aldo Rossi: Darling Architecture
From 19 September 2026, visit Bonnefanten to discover the story behind one of Maastricht’s most iconic buildings and the architect who designed it: Aldo Rossi.

Rossi (1931–1997) was much more than an architect. He was also an artist, writer, designer and thinker. His work brings together architecture, memories, art and everyday life. This is reflected in the ‘ Bonnefanten ’, which he designed as a place where memories and new experiences come together.

In the permanent exhibition ‘Aldo Rossi: Darling Architecture’, you’ll be introduced to his multifaceted work. Admire drawings, prints, furniture, models and special objects from the collection of Bonnefanten. Part of Rossi’s original interior design is also returning to the museum. The focus is on Rossi’s own way of looking at the city, architecture and life. For can a museum collect memories, or does the museum itself become part of our memories?

Discover the story behind one of Maastricht’s most recognisable buildings: the Bonnefanten Museum, designed by the Italian architect Aldo Rossi.
