Visit Maastricht's stately, more than 350-year-old city hall.
The City Hall on Market Square was built in the years 1659-1664 under master builder Pieter Post. In 2018, the town hall was beautifully renovated. The tower, from 1684, contains a carillon with 49 bells and is still played regularly. The interior is decorated with beautiful and precious tapestries, fine stucco work, ceiling paintings, mantelpieces and chandeliers. The city hall is the daily workplace of the mayor and aldermen. Therefore, the city hall can only be visited with an Official Maastricht Guide.
