Expo Acquisition | Everyone's art collection

C-mine Genk, Genk

'Acquisition' provides exploration of various social themes such as colonialism, identity and activism, through the artworks in the exhibition. The collection comprises various art forms such as painting, sculpture, installations, video and performance.

In recent decades, the Flemish Community has invested in the acquisition of contemporary artworks by both domestic and foreign artists. Over the years, this has resulted in an impressive art collection. However, the majority of this collection remains behind closed museum doors, with only a fraction of it being exhibited in Flemish museums. In the exhibition 'Acquisition', we introduce you to a selection of contemporary artworks that have been added to this collection over the past five years. Simultaneously with the exhibition, you can discover the seven-part documentary series 'Acquisition' on VRT MAX. Each episode focuses on one artist, providing an intimate insight into their life, work, and artistic vision. 'Acquisition' offers a profound exploration of various societal themes such as colonialism, identity, and activism, through the artworks in the exhibition.
