Stranger in a Strange Land is a 1961 science fiction novel by American author Robert A. Heinlein. It tells the story of Valentine Michael Smith, a human who comes to Earth after being born on the planet Mars and raised by Martians.

The book and title have inspired many artists. Anet Duncan found inspiration in the title and in the word inventions in the book. The book contains invented words by Heinlein, one of them being Grok, what made it into the dictionary. It means to be with, to comprehend, to love.. And Anet Duncan took this as Groc, Catalan for Yellow and currently the sign used in the independence movement in Catalonia for liberating the politicians who are in prison. But then Yellow has many other significations, from sunny and happy emotions to wisdom and reason. The exhibition does not want to make a political statement, but does want us all to look at our world as if we are Strangers in a Strange Land. The artist shows us a different way of looking at our environment

Anet Duncan was born in South Africa nd grew up there but lives since the 1970’s in Europe. First in France and since the 1980’s in Barcelona.
As daughter of a painter, she always has been painting and drawing. Her life is as a painter and she never has seen herself in any other profession. She finds inspiration working, alone in her studio or listening to music.
