Innenschau (German): introspective, reflection on your own mental processes.

‘We need the excuse of a fiction, to stage what we truly are.’ (Slavoj Žižek)
Innenschau (German): introspective, reflection on your own mental processes.
In Innenschau [Revisited] we follow an obsessive, jealous man. He is obsessed with the idea that his free and unconventional wife is an object of desire to other men and wants to protect her from this in the name of love. Fuelled by his own sexual frustrations and aggression he descends into a dark and deep delusion where he can longer separate lies from truth. As in a midnight odyssey, he travels through the dark recesses of his subconscious and comes to a shocking, irreversible revelation.

Through the unique visual imagery in Innenschau [Revisited], director Jakop Ahlbom presents an ominous world where we can no longer be sure whether our memories are real and whether our observations reflect reality. Through strong, visual imagery in which movement, dance, and illusion are intricately intertwined, and with the sweltering live music by indie-pop band Alamo Race Track, Ahlbom presents a surrealistic theatre thriller in which nothing is what it seems.

Innenschau [Revisited] is a remake of Innenschau by Jakop Ahlbom and Jeroen van de Berg from 2010.
