Damp, humid, sticky, overwhelming, and suffocating is the jungle, the most invasive form in which a landscape imposes itself on us. Once you're in the jungle, you cannot escape. The pressure from the surrounding is so powerful and hypnotic that it puts visitors in a dream state. The Dreaming Awake exhibition presents a layer by layer version of a tropical jungle in the Amazon. This is an exhibition about touch, where the emphasis is on the way humans touch on their environment.
Dreaming Awake attempts to convey that experience. This immersive project was developed by Brazilian curator Luiza Mello and the director of Marres Valentijn Byvanck in collaboration with the artists Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster, Daniel Steegmann Mangrané, and Luiz Zerbini.
