Discover the Stokstraat Quarter
This district exudes everything the Limburg capital stands for: hospitality, style, tradition and atmosphere. You come here to find inspiration, stroll around and get to know the heart of the city. The Stokstraat Quarter consists of the streets between Maastricht city centre and Jekerkwartier, with the chic Stokstraat as the eye-catcher.
Rich history
Although Stokstraat is now considered one of the most luxurious and exclusive shopping streets in the Netherlands, it has also seen very different times. If there is one street that has undergone the necessary transformations, it is Stokstraat. The historic buildings in this and the other streets of the Stokstraat Quarter are cherished and well cared for. Look up at the beautiful facades in this part of Maastricht and discover how much history is hidden here. Or take a look at the square Op de Thermen where a bathhouse could be found in Roman times. The stones of the square show where that bathhouse stood.
Our Lady's Basilica
Both religious and non-religious visitors and residents often light a symbolic candle here. Once or as a regular ritual. The candles are reflected in a special way in the glass behind which Mary appears, which makes for a beautiful sight. A visit to this basilica is a must if you are in the Stokstraat district.

Luxury and craft are central in this neighbourhood and this manifests itself in one special concept after another. You won't find big chains here, but inspiring boutiques that take everyone's creativity to the next level. The shops range from beautiful garments, accessories and jewellery to flowers, interior items and chocolates. There are even some 'court suppliers' to be found here.
