Odin Essers presents a special selection of rare and remarkable books from Maastricht University's Special Collections. These works shed light on some of the most far-reaching disease outbreaks in history.
Pandemics then and now
The Covid-19 pandemic affected us all: businesses closed, travel came to a standstill and education moved to online environments almost overnight stay. But how did earlier generations experience epidemics and pandemics? And what can historical books tell us about fear, science, religion and resilience in times of crisis?

This activity is of particular interest to students, staff, researchers and anyone with an interest in history, medicine, society or the role of books and archives in understanding the past. Registration is required.
