Wires of our Dutch history of slavery
Draden van ons Nederlandse slavernijverleden makes this past tangible with monumental tapestries in which history and art come together. Unique tapestries are designed and realised in several provinces, with contributions from local communities and artists. The project contributes to recognition and awareness and connects historical textile traditions.

The Limburg tapestry
Limburg will have its own tapestry within the national project Draden van ons Nederlandse slavernijverleden (Threads of our Dutch history of slavery). A large, collective textile work in which stories from the province come together, about the past, connection and the traces that are still visible in the present. We are not only making this tapestry for Limburg, but especially with Limburg.

Take part!
Do you live in Limburg and would you like to take part in this special project? Everyone is welcome. Experience with embroidery, tufting or punching is not necessary; learning and making together is key.
