All My Sons
One of the absolute highlights of the past British theatre season was this heartbreaking new version of the modern classic All My Sons (1947). The play is about Joe Keller's family, scarred by war suffering, (self-)deception and guilt. Chris wants to marry the lover of his brother who never returned from the battlefield. Mother Kate, however, has never been able to accept his death.
The actors
Bryan Cranston signs on for the lead role of Joe Keller and plays at the height of his powers here. The Volkskrant wrote that the actor seems to age ten years in a few hours before the audience's eyes. Also worth mentioning is the great acting talent Paapa Essiedu, who excels in the role of the tormented son Chris.
