Modernism in Parkstad
Modernism marks a period of progress, ambition and renewal. In the heyday of the mining industry, numerous buildings of exceptional quality arose in the region. The Glass Palace is one of the iconic products of this period and is the starting point of the exhibition.

Exhibition and themes
There is a carefully curated selection of modernist buildings. The presentation shows not only the quantity, but especially the quality of this architecture. Some buildings were given a new function and shine again in a contemporary role, while others are waiting for a future or are in a fragile state.

The exhibition also poses a topical question: how do we deal with this valuable legacy at a time when sustainability and reuse are increasingly important? New buildings cannot always be taken for granted; it requires cherishing, transforming and revaluing existing buildings, especially when they have cultural-historical value.
