Eating is much more than just nutrition. For some it is natural and enjoyable, for others fraught or even frightening. In the lecture series The Psychology of Eating, researchers delve into the complex psychology behind our eating behaviour.

During this series, organised by Studium Generale, scientists from Maastricht University's Eatlab will share their latest insights. Topics include selective eating behaviour and food refusal (ARFID) in children and adults, the treatment of eating disorders, persistent misconceptions about weight and health, and the influence of body image on our well-being.

Contributors will be researchers Anne Roefs (chair Eatlab), Anita Jansen, Anouk Hendriks, Carolien Martijn, Chantal Nederkoorn, Ghislaine Schyns, Jessica Alleva, Katrijn Houben, Lotte Lemmens, Leonardo Pimpini and Sandra Mulkens. One or two lectures are scheduled each evening and possibly interactive experiments with the audience.

A series for anyone who wants to understand more about the psychological side of eating, health and self-image.
