Toneelgroep de Bron plays Twijfel
UNTIL 19 April
Experience the penetrating play Twijfel by John Patrick Shanley, performed by Toneelgroep de Bron in the special setting of Klooster Hoogcruts.
Award-winning play
Toneelgroep de Bron performs Twijfel, based on the award-winning play Doubt, A Parable by John Patrick Shanley. The play received international acclaim and awards including the Pulitzer Prize and several Tony Awards. In the Netherlands, however, it is rarely seen.
Psychological struggle
The story is set in the 1960s. The strict headmistress Sister Gabrielle suspects pastor Simons of having an inappropriate relationship with a pupil. What follows is a probing psychological battle between certainty and doubt - and the question of how far you can go based on suspicions.
Special location
The play is performed in the refectory of the former Klooster Hoogcruts. This historic place provides a fitting setting for a story in which moral questions and inner doubt are central.
Twijfel-café
Visitors are welcome in the Twijfel-café from 19.00 onwards. Here you can get together beforehand and chat about the performance afterwards - and about what is certain, and what really needs to be doubted.
