The International Festival Vocallis presents a rich and diverse programme of concerts and events taking place at several unique locations in the Euregio. This festival offers a wide range of musical experiences, ranging from classical music and choral performances to contemporary compositions and intimate storytelling concerts.

Theme: Happiness
In 2025, the International Festival Vocallis will receive a special tribute: it will be dedicated to the versatile Lithuanian composer and painter Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis (1875-1911), who was born 150 years ago this year. Under the theme Happiness, which also marks a worthy retirement for incumbent artistic director Gert Geluk, the festival kicks off on Friday 17 October at Theater aan het Vrijthof in Maastricht. The National Youth Orchestra of Lithuania will play, among others, the atmospheric symphonic poem In the Forest.

Highlights
A special moment is the performance on Saturday 18 October by Rokas Zubovas, the great-grandson of Čiurlionis, together with his wife Sonata Zubovienė. They will perform four-handed piano works and share personal stories at the Leopoldskerkje in Meerssen, followed by film screenings of Letters to Sofija in Maastricht and Heerlen, in which Zubovas interprets his great-grandfather.

Closer
The festival closes festively on Sunday 2 November with a performance of Mahler's Fourth Symphony, arranged for chamber ensemble by Erwin Stein, as well as a new arrangement of Siegfried Wagner's Glück.
