ArcheoHotspot - Dig, sift and discover
UNTIL 15 April
Get to work yourself with real archaeological finds in the Maastricht Museum.
In the ArcheoHotspot of the Maastricht Museum Museum, you will discover how archaeologists work. This interactive activity takes place on the first floor of the museum and is freely accessible.
Children walk in the shoes of an archaeologist: they glue shards together, solve puzzles and help sieve soil - for example from the Cannerberg. Sometimes this yields special finds, such as the remains of a Roman campfire.
Adults can actively participate too. Together, you examine archaeological objects from the Maastricht collection. Bag after bag is opened, examined and described, after which the information is added to the database, thus helping to open up Maastricht's past.
Do you have your own find or special object, such as Maastricht ceramics or a print? Feel free to bring it along for further identification.
Curious about archaeology? Come along and discover how the past and research come together during the ArcheoHotspot Maastricht.
